Advantages and Disadvantage of Stainless steel kitchen sink

Stainless steel rinsing

Stainless steel rinses are the all-rounder under the sinks. They are robust and easy to care for, so they leave nothing to be desired with regard to handling. Here at Reuter you will find kitchen rinses made of stainless steel in many different designs and sizes. There is something for every need. In our guide you will find everything you need to know about stainless steel sinks.

Stainless steel rinse

Stainless steel rinse is the most popular of all rinse styles. Find out why this is so. We also help you choose the right size, surface or shape. After all, your new sink should fit perfectly with you and your kitchen.

Advantages and characteristics

The stainless steel sink from our shop come from renowned brand manufacturers such as Blanco or Franke. Quality is part of the program and you can be sure that you get something "reasonable" for your money. In general, a sink made of stainless steel is characterized by the following properties:

  • Robust

  • Slightly compliant surface - less glass and porcelain breakage

  • Acid resistant to household acids

  • Hygienic thanks to smooth and pore-free surface

  • Food safe

  • heat-resistant

  • Shock resistant to temperature changes

  • stainless

The many good properties make the stainless steel sink the most popular of all rinse styles. Perhaps it is not one to fall in love with immediately, for example in the ceramic sink, but the sink made of stainless steel can score with reliability and a long life. It also fits almost every kitchen.

Conventional acids such as citric or acetic acid are no danger to stainless steel sinks. You can also safely pour boiling water into the sink. In addition, the sink is resistant to abrupt temperature changes. Stainless steel baskets are also easy to do, plates and glasses do not break so easily when they fall on them.

The hygienic surface is another plus. You can easily place food such as fish, fruit or vegetables on the sink without affecting taste and appearance. It is not for nothing that stainless steel rinses are standard in many large kitchens and hospitals. They can be simply kept hygienically clean.

Stainless steel is a robust material - but there are things that are even harder - like ceramic knives or glass. Therefore, without a scratch, a stainless steel sink is usually not sufficient. However, you can see it positively: Stainless steel develops a patina through the use and thus makes it all the more noble.

The right size

Whether big or small kitchen sink- in our shop you will find the right stainless steel sink for every need. If you are looking for a particularly wide sink in the XXL format, you will find just as well as if it is an extra narrow specimen for the mini kitchen.

1. Large stainless steel rinses

Large stainless steel rinses offer comfort and freedom of movement. They can be used to clean baking trays, pans and other large objects without problems. Please note, however, that the widths indicated in the shop refer to the space requirement in the cabinet. The sink itself is usually even wider.

A small stainless steel sink is required in small kitchens with little space. As with the large sinks, the dimensions given for the required width of the sink cabinet apply. You must therefore look closely at the manufacturer's information if the pool is not allowed to exceed certain dimensions.

High gloss or matt surfaces

Stainless steel rinses are offered with different surfaces. Which of these options you choose is a matter of personal requirements:

  • High gloss / satin gloss

  • brush finish

  • linen texture

  • natural finish

A stainless steel sink with a high-gloss or silk gloss finish is certainly very noble, but scratches stand out particularly in the eye. On the other hand, the rinses are harder and thus more scratch-sensitive due to a special surface treatment.

Stainless steel rinses with a brush finish have a matte finish. This is not quite as hard as the shiny sink, so that scratches are created. However, they do not fall so strongly, at least when they are smaller.

The most insensitive stainless steel sinks are those with linen surface. They are embossed so that scratches are hardly noticeable. The optics is certainly not everyone's thing and not necessarily designabuglich.

Stainless steel rinses with Naturfinish go untreated over the shop counter. The surface is relatively soft and scratch-sensitive. It is usually only found in smaller sinks, which are pressed from a sheet metal.

Round or square - one basin or two basins

In the simplest embodiment, a stainless steel sink consists only of a round or rectangular basin. The work surface must then be used as a draining surface. A variant of this is the sink with two basins. It is extremely handy, but one can wash the vegetables in one, while the other dishes are washed.

In addition to the modern shape of the stainless steel basins, there is also the classic variant with a ribbed or smooth draining surface. Here, too, one or two basins are possible, which are either of equal size or have a different size.

When purchasing, you must pay attention to whether the basin is to the right or left of the draining area. Some can be turned, others can not. In this case, the hole for the fitting can be punched on both sides.

Anyone who wants to sink into the corner will also find something. We have some corner rinses in best stainless steel. They usually have a trapezoidal appearance and are equipped with one or two basins.

Surface-mounted or flush-mounted - various installation variants

Three installation variants are common with stainless steel tanks:

  • On-site installation

  • Flush mounting

  • Installation under the work surface

When installing, the stainless steel basin is placed on the cut-out worktop. This works quite simply, aesthetics may interfere with the small edge. But there is a solution for this.

For flush installation, the transition from the stainless steel kitchen sink to the worktop is fluid, but installation is more difficult. A small step must be cut into the cutout, into which the sink fits seamlessly.

Underfloor stainless steel rinses are attached to the kitchen worktop from below. Plates made of natural stone, concrete or mineral materials, which are water-insensitive, are particularly suitable.

The biggest enemy of every stainless steel sink is the lime. Stains usually only develop when coffee, tea or juices combine with the limescale deposits. If you wipe the sink dry with a soft cloth after use, ugly edges of the lime can not develop.

Stains can not always be avoided, since it is important to use the right medication. Chlorine-containing liquids, hydrochloric acid and grinding, polishing or scouring agents may not be used. A great home remedy is a mixture of 20 percent vinegar and 80 percent water. In addition, manufacturers such as Franke or Blanco offer special stainless steel care products
